Annual Myall Creek Massacre Memorial

Held on the Sunday of each June long weekend to remember those who were massacred on 10 June 1838
Each June, community members, descendants, families, educators, and supporters gather on Country for the Annual Commemoration. We walk the Memorial Path, read the plaques, and join in quiet reflection. It is a moment of shared strength, remembrance, and unity.

Myall Creek Symposium held at the Oorala Centre, UNE

This annual symposium brings together scholars, community leaders, students, and the public to explore the ongoing impact of truth-telling, justice, and the Frontier Wars on Australian history. Annual Memorial Gathering

Sunday 7 June 2026
Each year hundreds of people from across the country gather on the Sunday of the June long weekend to commemorate the unprovoked  massacre of at least twenty-eight Wirrayaraay women, children and old men by a group of stockmen on Myall Creek Station in June 1838. 2026 Memorial Guest Speaker Emeritus Professor Judy Atkinson

Monday 8 June 2026
The keynote speaker this year will be Emeritus Professor Judy Atkinson OAM, a Jiman and Bundjalung woman who also has Anglo-Celtic and German heritage from her mother. Prof Atkinson wrote ‘Trauma Trails – Recreating Songlines: The Transgenerational Effects of Trauma in Indigenous Australia.
